Strength is the ability to resist a force. That force might be the weight of a travel bag or the weight of your desire for dessert! No matter what force you are trying to resist, we are here to help you find the strength you need.

Why does Maya call them Squat Lunges when, if one goes by the order in which they occur, they are, in all actuality, Lunge Squats?

Hello, all--

I'm so excited to see a Yourself! Fitness community here! I've had the game for a little over a year, and I went at it really hard for about 3 or 4 months when my attention was diverted to pilates. I took it up again this January (created a new profile for myself, though...didn't want to hear what Maya had to say about me being gone for 8 or 9 months) with a goal to work on upper body strength so I can wear a sexy arm-baring dress to my lil' brother-in-law's wedding this July.

My arms are getting stronger; before this I've never been able to do push-ups in my life, and now my physical challenge record is 15. :)

This time around I bought an exercise ball so that there will be more variety with the exercises, and I'm liking it. I'm considering getting a step also b/c the husband would very much like me to be able to hike with him. I tried hiking with him on a "moderate" incline in Maine last year, and it didn't go well.

My next physical challenge is tonight, so wish me luck!

Hello! I'm new here. I've been using DDR as an exercise aid, and I just got Y!F today. Wow - what a workout! I immediately went out and got a step and some hand weights!

I'm really excited about this, and will probably bore you all to tears later as I rave. *grin*

Hey everyone, I just joined this community because Y!F should be arriving on my doorstep tomorrow, and I am so excited! I was just wondering, is there any equipment required for Y!F, or is it just aerobics and such? I don't have any weights or a step or anything, so I was just curious...

Looking forward to hearing more about everyone's progress!

Jan. 13th, 2006 @ 09:52 pm How many users can use one game?
I am about to purchase the "game" and wanted to know if anyone can tell me if more than one person can use it. I would like my husband to work out with her too and that will be easy for the most part since he and I have different work schedules. Can she take more than one person's information? Thanks!

Today was my second Physical Challenge.

I lost 4 pounds.
I can do 5 more squats than last time.
I can do 1 more pushup than last time.
I can do 5 more situps than last time.

Holy cow!

If this is a cult you can have my PIN number!

Then I did my normal workout, 30 minutes, Flexibility focus, Yourself Fitness.

I attribute the weight loss in part to meeting an odd craving for veggie sandwiches. Sort of like a salad on a bun. I don't know why, but I couldn't get enough of them. Unfortunately I ate kind of badly on Sunday and Monday. Lots of salt and more not-so-good food than I needed.

I'm just flabbergasted about the weight loss, because I have never done any sort of dieting where I looked at a scale. Let's hope I don't screw this up!

Jan. 10th, 2006 @ 12:11 am it's more than just a New Years resolution
hi folks! after having Y!F for awhile, i finally gave it another go. now that i'm not living in my crazy landlady's place, or in a house with super squeaky floors i've started really working at it.

i do the exercises (almost) every night. and in the last 8 days i've lost 11lbs (don't gasp and shock, i have a lot to lose, so 8 lbs is pretty decent actually i think). it's kinda sad, however, that like myrrhdusa said in her earlier post, I guess-timated my weight as well, and when i finally got back to it (like 6 months later) it now looks like I've gained weight (however my cardio is up and my flexibility has improved).

so i've set myself a reasonable goal of 4-6lbs a week (and hooray if i pass it like i did this week), and I'm sticking with those small steps.

I actually discussed Yourself!Fitness with my doctor, and he was aware of it and actually encouraged me to use it as a training and learning tool. Has anyone else talked with their medical doctors about it? If not, maybe the next time you have an appointment ask them and see what their recommendation is concerning it?

A few more questions if anyone has the time?Collapse )
Thanks a lot all. And it's wonderful to see that there's a community for Yourself!Fitness. :)

I just got the game today and I was really excited to start. I did the first 30-minute workout, and now I feel like I'm about to die. I must be really out of shape! It's going to take a lot to keep me motivated to punish myself everyday like this, yikes. But dammit, I really want to drop 20 pounds for my wedding. :\

I just had my first physical challenge. I've lost one pound, but the program isn't tracking my start weight correctly because I guessed at it when I did the profile and it was too low. This bothers me a bit, because my graph looks like I gained weight instead of lost it, but I guess it all works out in the end.

I post every day about my workouts in my personal journal, and that helps me. I thought everyone would be bored with it, but a couple of people actually said that my posts remind them that they need to get out and exercise too.

I'm glad I found a community for the "game", my friends are probably sick of me raving about it!
About this Entry
Nov. 15th, 2005 @ 09:20 am Hello everyone.
I've had my copy for Yourself!Fitness for my Xbox for about a year now. I tried doing it when I first got it, but the thing is, I wasn't really watching my diet at the same time, so results were pretty much nonexistant.

Now it's been a few months since I did it, and I finally started up again. This time I'm counting my daily calories and making sure I keep them below 2000 max. I started at 166 lbs and I want to get down to at least 155. After one week, I'm at 163.5. I'm on my way.

I'm glad there's a community for this "game." I seem to have already unlocked everything within the "game" from my first go-round with it, but I hope respondesign will think about making a new edition that has further enhancements.

One question I have is: What is the point/advantage of the Yoga Garden? I don't know when to use it, when I'm going to be up to the level of using it, etc? Does anyone here use it? Do you know when it's best applied?
